If Alaska wasn't so damned cold, this would be a great deal. Maybe it still is a great deal. Anderson, Alaska has decided to give away some property to a few people willing to take it. Anyone want to live in the Northern Frontier?

Alaska? Cold? They have mosquitoes now! It's not as cold as it used to be.

I'd consider Alaska if there was no threat of a 9.0 earthquake.

Indeed. I was in Fairbanks once and the common joke at the time was that you needed a shotgun to kill the mosquitoes there. I believe they can be found way up even on the North Slope for the very short summer they have there.

It's an interesting idea, and depending upon the conditions may be a fairly good deal for a summer place if they don't require you to live there throughout the winter as it will be long cold and dark. On the other hand, the sun barely goes down there in the summer.
