Memphis development and zoning

Recommended Posts

There is an interesting article in the local Memphis paper on development in Memphis with particular attention to the Poplar area.

Any thoughts on that? How likely is there to be changes from the government to support more sustained development? There is also mention of the Medical Center zoning as well as the Highland strip and the Airport area. Any ideas on how long to expect meaningful and noticable changes? Is it going to take something like 30 years? Any thoughts to linking these areas with light rail public transportation to weave it all together into a more cohesive neighborhood and community? Does anyone really think Memphis has vision and planning forsight in the local government rather than greed, corruption, and idividual kickbacks and payoffs to create a comprehensive plan for the Memphis metro area that will stick and be viable?
