Discussion of plans for Cherry Street Plaza in downtown Macon revealed Tuesday that everyone might not be on the same page about the project. During a presentation at the Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority meeting, Ben Hamrick of the Macon- Bibb County Parks and Recreation Department showed the latest plans for the plaza, which has been in development for the past two years. Hamrick said he hoped construction would begin at the end of October, immediately following Taste of Downtown and lasting a couple of months. But Sid Cherry, the authority's executive director, told board members that some of the businesses and museums near the plaza's location are unhappy about the projected loss of parking spaces.
