The old Pamona Mill in Greensboro will be razed :(

In the 1980s through the mid 90s the old textile mill west of UNCG was turned into the Greensboro Outlet Mall then Cotton Mill Square. It was a unique shopping experience because it had all the stores that youd see in regular indoor malls like at Four Seasons but the setting was in an old textile mill with the origional hardwood floors and brick walls. An electrical problem after a bad ice storm in 1996 cause it to close down. I have fond memories of that place when I was a little boy. I loved going there at Christmas time. You were greated at the door by a salvation army volunteer. Inside you could smell the sweet candy popcorn and I would go to see Santa Claus. Im really going to miss this place. I wish there was some way to preserve it the way they did with the Revolution Mill and convert it to loft condos or maybe an entertainment/restaurant complex.

yea but that mill was a BIG part of Greensboro's history and its sad to see it go. It could have even been turned into "The North Carolina Textile Museum" or maybe even something grander like "The Textile Museum of the South" since Greensboro played a key role nationally in the textile industries. Greensboro just lacks vision. We are making some progess with things that are happening downtown. But if this were Charlotte, they would invest the money and turn that into a real destination.

AHHH Man I remember going there a few times. Wait till I tell my wife they are going to demo Cotton Mill. She liked going there instead of fighting traffic going to Four Seasons. Of course we took advantage of Carolina Circle Mall since it was right up the street from A&T.

But if I read the article correctly, the building is privately-owned so it's not the city that's demolishing it. Has the city offered to buy the building?

Im not sure. I do know that the city has ceratin codes that if building owners dont fix up their building they have to demolish it after a period of time. Those codes really need to be adjusted though.

another article about Charlotte City Council touring downtown Greensboro. Charlotte City Council toured NewBridge Bank Park, Elon University Law School, Center-City Park, Southside and other places downtown. They reaaly wanted to see how Greensboro did it (with the baseball stadium) and how it meshes with downtown.

Hillary will be in Winston-Salem Thursday for a townhall meeting. She will arrive at PTI airport 6 PM. Hillary will follow the heels of Obama who will be making a stop at the Greensboro Coliseum Wednesday.

The latest tracking poll (after the Rev Wright fiasco) in North Carolina shows Obama in the lead. North Carolinians obviously arent judging Obama based on what some else said in a church pulpit. These results came after Obama's response to the Rev Wright fiasco. This 21 point lead is the largest he has shown in any NC polling to date

Obama 55%

Clinton 34%

Since North Carolina has almost as many delegates as Pennsylvania, A big Obama win in North Carolina and A big Hillary win in Pennsylvania will be more of a wash. So Hillary wont really gain any ground winning Pennsylvania.

I support both candidates, but I think Clinton would be better suited for the job. I'll be attending the Clinton meeting, but, unfortunately, I can't make the Obama rally tomorrow so I had to give my tickets to a friend of mine. Cityboi, will you be taking photos tomorrow?
