I have the answer to all who inquire as to the best place to watch a Sox game!!!

It's easy - the nearest bar or pub you can get to tomorrow at 2:05 PM when the Dice-K cometh and starts his 1st Major Leauge game for the Sox!

Got Mapquest? :shades:

Some places that haven't been mentioned for watching a Sox game:

Fish Co. Lots of TVs, cheap drinks, on the water...but the crowd varies depending on the day/time. If you want to oggle college girls and watch the game, this would be a good place for you.

Torts - I know, it's not in PVD. But it's a great place for the Sox & Pats, because of it's size, the big screen, the food & beer, prices, etc. Also Houlihan's in EP is a good spot, smaller than Torts but it's got a nice location right on the inlet near the Washington Bridge.

No one mentioned Snookers, which I like because of it's location, atmosphere, and mixed use accomodations - it has the urban-happy hour-sports bar section right when you walk in - lots of huge TVs behind the bar, with booth seating opposite; then it has the whole pool table section; the outdoor bar and patio; the lounge, dance floor area...

I'll post more when I have the time to think of some others

Went to Fenway yesterday for RI day. Left Prov at 11:30 and was passed in North Attleboro by five state troopers and the governor on the way also to Fenway. Noticed they took the south east expressway at the split to get into Boston. I went west on 128 then to Rt 9 and arrived at Yawkee way by 12:30 for the 1:35 first pitch with no police escort. When the governor was introduced I thought I heard a few boos. He defered the first pitch to a young lady. Jerry Kapstein served as the catcher. Noticed the state flag was flying above home plate.

Great game except for the rain delay.
