Disagreements abound over future of bank building

Key --

1. Former bank building in Avella, Pa. may be demolished.

1a. Independence Township officials have been working to have the building demolished. The former Lincoln National Bank is "going to be torn down" -- from Township Colicitor Bob Clarke.

1b. Others from the Avella Community Association want to save it and renovate it.

2. It will cost $600,000 to restore the building. The Association is asking for 18-24 months to purchase the structure.

2a. Meanwhile, the Township will continue to work to demo the building.

This right here really ticks me off!

Clarke said he had heard about efforts by some residents to look at purchasing the building, although he said the owners had told him no one had approached them. Either way, Clarke said, the building will need to be demolished.
