Authority accepts Cove School

By GIOVANNI P. ROSSI, Weirton Daily Times, July 11, 2007

The Weirton Redevelopment Authority met on Tuesday (July 10) to discuss its acceptance of Cove School. The city turned over the school's deed to the Authority for its consideration and marketing; if the Authority were to accept, the school could be targeted for redevelopment. In addition, the Authority was notified that an application to demolish the school was denied and could be reapplied for in October. The previous city council added $50,000 to the department funds to be used for match money for the demolition grant. The money would have been used for asbestos abatement.
