From the Greensboro News and Record:

"We are proud of our Greensboro, N.C., roots and remain very committed to the community," Rendle told Vaughan in the email. "VF will retain a strong employment presence in Greensboro, including continuing leadership for certain corporate functions, and the company will continue with planned investments at its Greensboro office. With the move of VF’s Lee brand to join the new Jeanswear company VF is creating Greensboro, coupled with the move of approximately 85 VF staff to metro Denver, we anticipate related employment in the city will remain largely unchanged."

thats a press release from VF and with 80  people moving from Kansas City it is basically no change in employment.  Yes some prestige lost but new company is born

About this time yesterday morning, I read the headline in TBJ: "VF Moving Headquarters to Denver". I wilted like a flower in 90 degree heat! However, after reading the article, I feel a little better. VF has been a very good corporate citizen in Greensboro and with Jeans division staying here, I would expect this to continue.

VF update:  Sounds like 650 jobs or most of them are coming out the Bay area!   From California read this from the San Fran Business Journal

https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/news/2018/08/15/vf-corp-alameda-campus-north-face-bay-area-denver.html?ana=e_ae_set1&s=article_du&ed=2018-08-15&u=oAaDx%2B74FoP4qOJ%2By4AU6dhJPpc&t=1534374656&j=83296231

Plus less than 100 from Greensboro.  Plus incoming 80 from Kansas City  heading to Greensboro.

400 more jobs at the FedEx hub at GSO airport and with hub Amazon warehouses 1 hour away south in Charlotte and soon to be in Raleigh (Garner) makes a lot of sense to grow this hub.  https://www.bizjournals.com/triad/news/2018/08/16/fedex-express-will-double-its-workforce-at.html?ana=e_triad_bn_breakingnews&u=oAaDx%2B74FoP4qOJ%2By4AU6dhJPpc&t=1534461152&j=83319381

Not to mention that we're going to have our own Amazon warehouse a few minutes away in Kernersville (though that one won't necessarily be a "hub" but more of just a standard fulfillment center that will likely become standard in just about every metropolitan area.

Publix picks Greensboro for its huge distribution center which will be the largest distribution center in the region.

Along with it will come 1,000 jobs which will pay on the minimum side  $45,000a year.

https://myfox8.com/2018/08/29/gov-cooper-job-announcement-publix-to-build-400-million-distribution-center-in-greensboro/

The article says "an average salary of $45,000," which is not the same as a minimum of $45,000.

To be fair, there was an article that as originally written DID say a minimum salary of $45K.

Maybe there was, but can you honestly see the janitorial staff, cafeteria staff, shipping/receiving clerks, etc. making $45K? I don't even think those jobs pay that in San Francisco or New York.

Common sense should win out.

Yeah, I know.... but since the article said it, it's not as if he pulled out the idea out of his rear.  Heck, an average of $45K is still REALLY good and considerably more than I would have expected (I was expecting an average of about $36-38K) .

Major job win for the Triad and Winston in particular.  National General Insurance to add 625 jobs in Winston where they already employ 1400+.

A 600 job expansion would be like an 1800 job expansion in Charlotte Mecklenburg given the population size of either county.   This is a MAJOR win for the Triad.

Definitely big because it isn't just a few hundred jobs.. it's a few hundred good paying jobs. The average is a bit over $50K. Big win for Winston-Salem and the Triad.

Sounds like the new VF spinoff will base some of its employees in 40,000 sq ft in Revolution Mill.  Remember only the top execs about 85 are moving with VF to Denver most of the back office jobs are staying put in Greensboro. https://www.bizjournals.com/triad/news/2018/11/08/vf-spinoff-taps-wrangler-building-for-hq-but-some.html?ana=e_triad_bn_breakingnews&u=oAaDx%2B74FoP4qOJ%2By4AU6dhJPpc&t=1541702350&j=84911841

Tim, I may be missing something, but everything I'm hearing is that the Winston Salem arm of BB&T will remain there. However, some high-ranking management types will be moving to the new HQ in Charlotte. It remains to be seen what will happen to jobs at the former American Express complex near PTI airport.

Congrats to our neighbors to the south.  This is a big win for Charlotte as it continues to become an iconic banking center.

I think there will be some jobs moved to Charlotte the top execs and their staff but most everything else would remain and possibly grow in Winston and in their old AMEX facility near the airport.  BB&T owns 57% of this new company which means I think they will call the shots of what systems to use etc.   Winston and even Atlanta  did not have a chance at the merged banks 's headquarters due so Charlotte between the 2 (but much closer to Winston) became the obvious choice.
