It looks like Fresh Market HQ will indeed stay in Greensboro and move to downtown in the Wells Fargo Plaza according to reports in the Triad Biz Journal.

Looks like the meeting today was not for the PTI project, but instead for this Kroger fulfillment center in Cabarrus County:

I haven't seen any other timelines for an announcement on the PTI project.

Little video of the jets that will be built at PTI 

The 205-foot passenger plane can travel at more than 1,300 mph — faster than the speed of sound and twice the speed of today’s fastest airliners. The plane can carry 65 to 88 passengers and fly as far as 4,888 miles at a cruising altitude of 60,000 feet. The jets will be built for United Airlines and possibly the Airforce.

Triad's top new job announcements for 2021 and of course Toyota is #1.   From the Triad Business Journal:

>  Toyota Motor Co.: Will invest $1.29 billion in a hybrid and electric vehicle battery manufacturing plant in Greensboro-Randolph Megasite near Liberty in Randolph County, 1,750 new jobs at an average salary of $62,234. A potential second phase could push that number to 3,875 in subsequent years.

• Hayward Industries: Leased 326,000-square-foot spec in Davie Industrial Center in Mocksville for a new distribution center; 20 new jobs plus 100-250 new manufacturing jobs in Clemmons.

• Nature’s Value: Vitamin and supplement relocating from New York to 426,000-square-foot building it acquired at Whitaker Park, 200 new jobs.

• Palltronics: Leased a 253,000-square-foot spec in SouthPoint Business Park in Mocksville to manufacture durable, smart shipping pallets; 200 new jobs.

• Thermo Fisher Scientific: Will invest $192.5 million in manufacturing facility for laboratory pipette tips in Mebane, creating 150 to 200 jobs under a federal contract with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

• Ardagh Group expansion: Beverage can manufacturer making a $195.5 million expansion at 4000 Old Milwaukee Lane in Winston-Salem; 94 new jobs. Ardagh also will lease a new 610,000-square-foot warehouse at 4051 Wallburg Road in Forsyth County; creating another 40 jobs.

• LT Apparel Group is expected to invest $57.3 million and create 116 jobs at a new 800,000-square-foot distribution center off U.S. 29 in northeast Greensboro.

• Lotus Bakeries: Will build an 111,000-square-foot expansion at its plant in North Carolina Industrial Center in Mebane; 90 new jobs.

• Mohawk expansion: Will invest $87 million in laminate flooring equipment at its Thomasville plant; 87 new jobs.

• Guerrilla RF: Newly public semiconductor company will invest $5.515 million and create 50 new jobs at an average wage of $100,000 as it grows its footprint five-fold at a nearly 60,000-square-foot building in Greensboro.

• Liberty Storage: Relocating to 33 acres and building up to 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space; 50 new jobs.

• Scott Bader: UK-based global adhesives and gelcoats purchased 110,000-square-foot spec in SouthPoint Business Park in Mocksville; 27 new jobs.

• Fitesa: Brazilian specialty fabrics maker will invest $18 million and create 22 new jobs as it expands its manufacturing facility in High Point.

• Sportsfield Specialties: Athletic field manufacturer relocated from Salisbury to 77,000-square-foot building it acquired at 155 Boyce Drive and will expand by 30,000 square feet; 20 new jobs.

• RUD Fleet Corp. expects to add 20 new jobs over three years as it relocates its operations from Eastchester Drive in High Point to 209 N. Main St. in downtown High Point.

More great news! Volvo Trucks of North America is already headquartered in Greensboro along with Mack Trucks world headquarters.

$110 million expansion of local plant is great.  

""Procter & Gamble announced Tuesday it will expand its manufacturing facility located at 100 Swing Road in Greensboro by 80,000 square feet and create an additional 46 jobs. The company plans to invest $110 million in the expansion.  According to Guilford County records, the Swing Road facility sits on a 53-acre property with a main manufacturing building of 120,000 square feet, plus two office buildings it added of 47,454 square feet and 9,000 square feet. Built in 1966, P&G purchased the property and the original building in 2014 for $18.6 million.""

""While the company has not stated what it manufactures at the site, according to website industry.net it makes Pepto-Bismol, Vicks, Nyquil and Dayquil products there. ""

""The company also operates a manufacturing facility at 6200 Bryan Park Blvd. in Browns Summit, where it makes Crest toothpaste, Olay skin products, Gillette, Secret and Old Spice deodorant, and Fixodent denture adhesive. That facility is nearly 1.6 million square feet.   According to Triad Business Journal research, Proctor & Gamble employs more than 1,200 in the Triad.""

I told you Greensboro was ready to really boom like some other NC metros with Toyota, Boom Supersonic and now Amazon is adding another distribution center with 1000 jobs.

""Guilford County may soon be home to the Triad's second major Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) fulfillment center.

Triad Business Journal has learned that a 99-acre tract at 238 Ritters Lake Road on the south side of Greensboro and below Interstate 85 may be the site of a second hub for the fulfillment giant, which would join its 1 million-square-foot facility in eastern Kernersville. 

Greensboro attorney Mike Fox, representing Williams Development Group of Winston-Salem, told the Greensboro Planning and Zoning Commission at a November meeting that the anticipated economic development project would bring an investment of more than $200 million and more than 1,000 jobs. The job count is similar to Amazon's 1-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Kernersville, which opened in July 2020.

At its Nov. 17 meeting, Greensboro City Council approved the voluntary annexation and rezoning of the property off South Elm/South Eugene Street just south of the interstate. Now zoned city CD-LI (light industrial), the property that is south of Ritters Lake Road was previously zoned county AG (agricultural) and county RS-40 (residential single-family). Typical uses in the LI district include limited manufacturing, wholesaling, warehousing and distribution.""

this may not be a lot of jobs not sure how many but boy is it interesting and good for Winston.

New Fortune 500/1000 List for 2022 has 5 Triad Companies: 

LabCorp (F500 - 230)

Hanesbrands (F500 - 458)

Old Dominion Freight (F1000 -- just outside at 578)

Qorvo (F1000 - 691)

Kontoor (F1000 -- 923)

I'm excited to see what is in store for the Triad Business Community with all of the recent investments.
