something is going on in Randolph County or the Siler City megasite.

NC in their annual budget provides for water and sewer improvements for a possible micro chip plant near Asheboro.   State approves $112 M in for improvements.  Remember this did for the yet unannounced Toyota battery plant.  So something BIG is brewing....

Wonderful announcements! Also the state is giving Toyota more money for phase 2 which is an actual automobile assembly plant next to the battery plant. I'm really looking forward to Boom Supersonic. Its like Honda Jet on steroids.

New modular building company choses Greensboro as its headquarters reports the Triad Biz Journal.

""A company making modular building units it says are much more highly energy efficient and cost-effective than those using earlier techniques and forms of structural insulated panels is looking to establish its headquarters in the Triad and to start a factory serving the Carolinas and Virginia.  Vantem Global is embarking on a plan to build 15 factories in the United States over seven to eight years, said CEO Chris Anderson, and plans to locate its headquarters in Greensboro.  Vantem recently completed a private equity investment co-led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Quadrant Management and TEM Capital. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is the board chairman of Breakthrough. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission dated June 14, Vantem listed a $10.1 million round of investment.  Vantem’s system has been deployed in over three million square feet of living space internationally, including Uruguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, and the Caribbean.  Anderson described it as a wood products company for furniture production and construction materials, with factories in South American supplying furniture manufacturers in the Carolinas as well as Home Depot and Lowe’s.  No site has been determined for the Southeast factory or headquarters other than the latter is to be in Greensboro, Anderson said.

“I like it, and I'm the CEO," said Anderson, who formerly worked with Forest World in Greensboro. "But it's a great environment. I think it's a really an undervalued asset — cost of living and quality of life, I think is wonderful. And so attracting talent to that area, I think is going to be easier than other potential, maybe higher profile places.”""

The HQ is a nice addition. Hopefully the factory can be in the general Triad area too and I suspect it ptobably will be.

Greensboro looking great in the Wyndham PGA golf tourney this weekend.  I forgot how big the houses are  around Sedgefield Country Club and surely some Boom and Toyota execs will end up there.  Golf tournaments like this are national and international exposure for Greensboro.

this $5 Billion chip plant to be built outside of Siler City in Chatham County is only 31 miles from downtown Greensboro and  a 36 minute ride from downtown.

I expect many employees will find homes in Guilford County as well as Randolph and Chatham Counties.  This is another win along with the Toyota Battery plant up the road US 421.  Greensboro is the largest city within a reasonable commute of this site and best suited for more apartments, homes and suppliers of this plant.

https://wraltechwire.com/2022/09/09/wolfspeed-5-billion-investment-plant-chatham-county/

This along with Toyota and Boom Supersonic is going to ignite growth in Guilford County believe me.

further proof the Greensboro connection this from a Triangle Biz Journal article about the new plant:

""The new jobs come with average wages of more than $77,700. The current average annual wage in Chatham County is just over $41,600.  The firm, which also has a tight relationship with N.C. State University, plans to expand its existing partnership with North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Wolfspeed had already committed $4 million over five years to North Carolina AT&T, at the time the single largest donation in the historically Black school’s history. The plan is to establish a training curricula in order to staff the plant.  Lowe said partnerships with universities such as N.C. A&T “pushed” North Carolina over the top as Wolfspeed was vying between Chatham County and New York.""

I told you Greensboro was ready to really boom like some other NC metros with Toyota, Boom Supersonic and now Amazon is adding another distribution center with 1000 jobs.

From Triad Biz Journal

""Guilford County may soon be home to the Triad's second major Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) fulfillment center.

Triad Business Journal has learned that a 99-acre tract at 238 Ritters Lake Road on the south side of Greensboro and below Interstate 85 may be the site of a second hub for the fulfillment giant, which would join its 1 million-square-foot facility in eastern Kernersville.

Greensboro attorney Mike Fox, representing Williams Development Group of Winston-Salem, told the Greensboro Planning and Zoning Commission at a November meeting that the anticipated economic development project would bring an investment of more than $200 million and more than 1,000 jobs. The job count is similar to Amazon's 1-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Kernersville, which opened in July 2020.

At its Nov. 17 meeting, Greensboro City Council approved the voluntary annexation and rezoning of the property off South Elm/South Eugene Street just south of the interstate. Now zoned city CD-LI (light industrial), the property that is south of Ritters Lake Road was previously zoned county AG (agricultural) and county RS-40 (residential single-family). Typical uses in the LI district include limited manufacturing, wholesaling, warehousing and distribution.""

Looks like Amazon is cancelling their proposed center in Greensboro!

since this affects business I will put it this here.

Both Greensboro and Winston Salem are some of the most affordable places to live in the country based on income cost of living etc.

Greensboro metro comes in #4 and Winston metro even better at #2

Looks like the Triad is finally turning the corner after years of struggling to develop an identity and attract good jobs.

https://myfox8.com/news/buckley-report/triad-becomes-e-transport-hub/amp/

That article is not completely accurate. Wolfspeed and Vinfast are in Chatham County, which is part of the Triangle.

Furthermore, any wins for the Triad includes the other Triad cities. It's not all about Greensboro.
