Ann Coulter comes to Charlotte

Ann is disgusting. She presents herself as a knowledgable pundit. Rosie is an entertainer with opinions. There's a huge difference no matter what anyone agrees or disagrees with. And the fact that someone who considers themselves a serious journalist/author and says what she says, and that there is a subculture out there that acutally condones her actions absoulutely boggles the mind. Something is seriously wrong here!

A couple of weeks ago I went to a school-sponsored civil rights workshop in Alabama. On the way there I watched a couple of documentaries covering the lives of MLK, Parks, etc. I was really taken aback at how freely the conservative leaders of the time used racial slurs in public speeches and interviews -- seeing the mayor of Selma call MLK a "coon" in the middle of a press conference and draw LAUGHTER from the crowd was an eye-opening moment.

50 years from now, our grandchildren are going to see video of Ann Coulter calling John Edwards a "f-----" and wonder how such a thing could ever have been acceptable. Whether she appreciates it or not, Coulter is setting herself up as a true villainess in the style of a Wallace or a Calhoun. I say let her speak, and let her damn herself to the legacy she deserves.

I think she does her job and does it well. The fact that she gets people talking about her is how she sells herself, and the fact that you all know enough about her to maintain a conversation is proof of that. She is an entertainer. People that actually are converted to a new ideology based on her thoughts alone are not very sure of their opinions to start with. The same can be said for Mrs. Coulter's Liberal counterparts (Al Franken, etc). It takes talent to find a way to make money by pissing people off and continue to be successful at it.

That was then, this is now.

look at Al Sharpton .Look at that ex-professor who was a Liberal that said all white people should die.Or the mayor of New Orleans talking about a choclate city, which I was offended by. I did not protest.

*All Liberals by the way*

Ann Coulter is representative of what The Republican Party does to gays, immigrants or anyone who disagrees with them. They bash them. There is no doubt that those of us who are Liberal have said outlandish things but there is no comparison to the homophobia, muslim bashing, racism and neglect of New Orleans after Katrina, etc etc that is endorsed and encouraged by Bush/Cheney. They love Ann because she rallies the bigoted base needed to win elections.

so, is the general public allowed to go?

How ironic I got my Ann Coulter book right beside me. It's the New Yorks #1 Times Bestseller, with a new foreword by Rush Limbaugh. Awesome.

I'm so going to try to say a few words to her. FYI: You think Ann Coulter is bad ?!?!?! You have never met me.

If someone wants to bash others for something outside of their control (specifically, being gay or the color of your skin) then you have that right in our country. But, be aware, that the Nazis used the same tactics the right-wing and right-wing talking heads like Coultier use today. The Nazis claimed that Jews were a race of people - they had no choice who they were...they rode that horse all the way to the gas chambers dragging millions with them while Europe sat by and did nothing. Think America is somehow immune from the same? Imagine being black in this country 50 years ago or being gay today. The threat lurks just behind the curtain and is personified by the rhetoric of fear and hatred Coultier and her cronies support. Coultier and Limbaugh and Rove aren't entertainers - they're Nazis wrapped up in the American flag.

I find it ironic that some of the ones who think protesting Coulter is a great idea are the same ones who pitch a hissy fit if someone protests Charlotte "Pride".

It's always amusing that the leftists say all opinions count until they encounter one they don't agree with.

Nazis were Communists? This is why the right wing is so dangerous...it encourages people with weakness of mind. Were the Nazis "Communist" b/c they had the term "Socialist" in their title? Does anyone else want to share with Mr. Mexico a lesson in history?

The people of Vermont, Connecticut, Mass., NJ, etc. didn't vote to allow gay marriage. Gay marriage is a civil right. If we allowed people to vote on civil rights Jim Crow Laws would still be in place from South Carolina to Texas and the NC Senate wouldn't have voted today to apologize to blacks for the state's role in promoting segregation.

As far as "majority" ruling...oh, were it true. IF it were true, Al Gore would be serving a second term.

I am not going to let you divert this into gay issues. I am sorry but I don't believe that you have the right to vote on whether I can marry my boyfriend. Mass answered that question as well as Canada and South Africa and Holland, and Spain and the USA will get there too. That is for another thread. I don't have objections to Ann Coulter spewing her bile. I happen to think she is a contributing factor to divisiveness that is tearing this country apart. As far as "crazy protestors", without us women would not be able to vote and the civil rights movement would never have orginated without protest. I did not object to fundamentalists protesting Charlotte Pride. We have every right to oppose them though. All of you free thinking conservatives should have no problem with people protesting Ann.
