Ray Kurzweil's "The Singularity Is Near" was an interesting read for me as was Francis Collins' "The Language of God." Right now I'm reading "What I Believe But Cannot Prove" which is by various scientists, visionaries, etc.

The Elegant Universe was a B&N front rack book years ago, but remains a relatively simple read as far as hard science goes, it is about string theory (physics and astrophysics).

Well, from now until October I'll be concentrating my reading efforts on Shigley and Mitchell's Mechanical Engineering Design and Michael Linderman's Mechanical Engineering Review Manual. Not the most intoxicating reading, but the PE exam is coming up in October.

I'm working my way through Holy Blod, Holy Grail at lunch, a book Dale Brown based a lot of The Da Vinci Code on.

Everybody keeps talking about intellectual books. For some good entertaining (and thought-provoking, too) books, read Ragtime by E.L. Doctorow and Candide by Voltaire.
