The Gateway Site

I wasn't disappointed about the last proposal dying. This site deserves much more than a four story apartment community.

Given the site layout, I thought the last proposal was the best we have seen.  It was urban and made good use of the space.  If someone wants to build a high rise, that would be great, but with the difficulties we have seen with projects there I'm not going to expect anything too significant.

Yeah, it was more of the height factor that I didn't like with the last proposal. Everything else about it though was great.

FCD-Development of Charlotte has asked the city’s Design Review Board for permission to build 176 apartments on the property where numerous other development plans have fallen through.

The latest development to be proposed is called Greenville Gateway in an application filed at City Hall.

The plans call for 60 studio apartments, 72 one-bedroom units and 44 two-bedroom apartments as well as parking and a pool.

Sounds low impact. Not convinced that this is the solution for the site. We will see what it actually looks like, but I'm hoping we see something else.

What is the solution for the site? Leaving it empty for another 18 years? Personally, I would put a pocket park on site but that's just me.
