Double Oaks Apartments

Living near Double Oaks, I got a flier in my mailbox about an upcoming public meeting about the development and area.

Not sure what the meeting is all about, but it seems at least they are putting a feeler out for the immediate area to get info on the plans.

The Drakeford Co today annouced plans to develop what they are calling North End Square at the corner of Statesville Ave and Oaklawn Ave. It will consist of 12,000 sq ft of retail and 78 townhomes that will be priced affordably. It is great to see private investment coming back to this community after a long abscene.

It looks like these townhomes will be similar in style and design to the Walnut Hill project he just completed in Wesley Heights.

Looks good for what it is....assuming the townhouses have have sidewalks connecting to the public steets. I hope at least the color pallete varies by unit or building.

Nice view! Certainly puts things in perspective. I'm amazed how unobstructed the view is, nothing in the way- just straight out uptown in all of her glory.

The plan looks to take advantage of the beautiful big trees that are still on this land. Any ideas what kind of retail will go into this?

Its a unique area, might take some creativity to be successful.

Frankly, I'm surprised that Tara Servatius would write an article like that Double Oaks article. As one person pointed out, she gentrifies houses herself.

Yeah, the view of the skyline is great from here. With this much open land, I'm surprised it took this long to develop.
