Torture?! The reason I am not very specific in a lot of my info is because I get my info from a handful of inside sources whose jobs could be on the line if certain info gets leaked. One friend nearly lost his job by leaking info onto internet forums. A lot of the inner workings of these developments are very sensitive. Often times, the info that gets leaked can be just enough to nix a deal at the very last minute.

There's some good stuff in the works though...several building renovations, and one new building, and some smaller things. I think a lot of you will be pleasantly surprised when the official announcements come along. :)

tapezord reporting. A few downtown developments from tonight:

-fireproofing is underway at the expansion building on the north side of the book cadillac hotel

-sand sub base is on site as the griswold site

-new signage on 1001 woodward. presumably pushing the condo concept again but this time with diffrent owners.

-Greektown has their multi-pattern glass going up. The pattern is not clear at this point. As some of you had suggested in the Casino megathread, there does appear to be some curvature to the glass which will certainly be interesting... in an NBD/"Cheese grater" Building kind of way. (I actually like this building now after 10 years of introspective debate)

-steel fully covering Lafeyette Street. There will be arches centered above the median which have been framed in (steel).

-motor city casino's lighting is officially crazy and obnoxious. I will bite my tongue no longer, I hate everything about that casino. As best I can tell, MCC will be thoroughly outclassed by MGM and Greektown.

-MGM is adversiting all around downtown "We innovate, they renovate." Meanwhile, there was good foot traffic around the MGM site, which, for a Tuesday is freaking unheard of. Where this foot traffic was going, I have no clue, but feel free to explore my fellow detroiters.

-driving downtown from the new center along woodward at night is getting increasingly exciting. There are lights on in so many buildings that years ago were dark a few years ago. There is progress and its exciting to see.

As always, no photos... but I had my camera. Oh well.
