the are starting to add the balconies on Center Pointe. Center Pointe is located across the street from Center-City Park and will have a restaurant on the first floor.

the zoom on my new camera is pretty amazing. I took the next two pictures from the Bellemeade parking deck across the street from Center-City Park. The Koury Convention Center is at least 3 miles from where I took these photos.

Here is Southside in downtown Greensboro

This is "The Press" Its a wine cafe'/restaurant. It looks like one of those buildings in the French Quarter in New Orleans. On certain nights of the weeks you can listen to live jazz music. Its pretty packed at nights.

Southside townhomes

a 300 plus unit apartment complex in Southside called "City View Apartments" is under construction. It will consist of several apartment buildings, a pool, cardio center, cyber cafe', club house and residential business center.

The Arbor House Condos are a bit bland with the earth tones, but it looks to be a quality project.

The park is looking really nice.

More great pics. I was at the Koury Convention Center last weekend. It's really a shame that it was built where it was, though; a lot of conventioneers don't get a chance to see what makes Greensboro special, especially if they don't have a car.

The rest of these photos are of developments in the downtown Southside Neighborhood. What I love about this neighborhood is the variety of architecture and palete of colors. Despite the different architectural styles, they all blend in.

To my surprise as I was walking down Arlington Street I noticed that some new condos are under construction in Southside.

Very nice. The tower homes have come out looking much better now that they're finished.

The classic look works well for Greensboro. I especially like the Arlington Lofts and the live-work units.

does anybody know what is taking them so long on the tower homes though? it seems like they have been sitting in the same condition for a long time now.

They are very nice with a very cool concept as far as the design. However, cheap materials were used in the construction!

A building contractor friend and I took the liberty of checking them out while the work crew was on their lunch break. We saw lots of press board used along with other low-grade materials. I would give any owner of of of these units about 5 years of rainy weather and moisture before they have problems with buckling walls. This is a real shame becasue I think they are beatuiful! A realtor told me that they are not selling. They should have been built with brick and then maybe they would be worth $340 or whatever the price is...way to expensive for what you get!

Another observation, is that any furniture bigger than a chair is gonna have to be lifted through the balconies, 'cause nothing's gonna fit up those stairs.

ahh, so they're done, but just not selling? i agree that the price is way too high for the materials and floor-plan.

the arlington lofts are interesting though. if you look at the floor-plans, pretty much all the living space is upstairs and the washer and dryer hookups are in the garage. off the garage is a "bonus room" and then everything else is upstairs. i agree that they have a different look, and the materials are probably nice, but i would hate to have to shlep my laundry into the garage to wash clothes in a brand new condo.

Thanks for all of the pics cityboi!! A lot has come along downtown even since I was last down in Greensboro back in December (esp Centerpointe!!). I'll be heading down for Mother's Day and I'm anxious to see what's been going on in person!

Southside is a vital part of the push toward downtown Greensboro's revitilization. I great to see these developers come in to this section of the city adjacent to downtown Greensboro and turn an area of decrepid old buildings and over grown fields into a well planned development.
