Shifts in Furniture Markets

Anyone who has lived here long enough has probably heard of the great furniture makers that once dominated Grand Rapids and the entire industry, and the virtual demise of the furniture industry through much of 1900's to other locales, most specifically to places like High Point, N.C.

I've recently read articles, however, showing that High Point is now on the receiving end of the furniture exodus, as the largest furniture show in the country has now moved to Las Vegas, and many furniture makers are moving overseas.

Not revelling in High Point's pain, but it's interesting to see how economies and industries are going through rapid changes. On top of an industry one day, heading to the bottom the next.

Is High Point Market at a low point?
