Anyone ever notice that the same names pop up when questionable actions affect the city? Take, for instance, THIS story about a "lease termination fee" for a lot adjacent to the butt ugly building. Some names that pop up prominently: Abe Giles (political crony of the Mayor, receives no-bid parking lot deals, among other things, like this lease termination fee apparently); Eddie Perez (the Mayor, loves to hook up his friends, denies knowledge of this, but the lease is missing, wonder whos office its hidden in...); Robert Danial (local downtown slumlord, loves to buy cheap properties, let them rot and sit on them while inflating the selling price hoping for a windfall).

Does the shady behavior never cease?

That land is the 40-space parking lot at Main and Trumbull streets that Giles has operated under a 1993 agreement with the city for $500 a month, Giles has said. But neither he nor city attorneys could locate a copy of the parking lot lease between Giles and the city.

According to a 2005 national market survey Hartford has a median monthly parking rate of $196 dollars a month. Do the math.
