CONSTRUCTION THREAD: Georgia Road Commons

16 posts in this topic

Apparently Georgia Road Commons is being developed by a company called Hankins Properties LLC.

http://www.simpsonvillesc.com/CityHall/010207_000.htm

The plan for restaurants is to create a restaurant "row" similar to that on the Eastside at Pelham and the hotel chain is most probably Wingate from what I hear.

Anyone have any info on the retail portion?

Simpsonville has really developed 385 through their area. I wonder why Mauldin is still sitting there with trees...? It's really odd to hit the Simpsonville area and then see nothing for a few miles and then hit Woodruff out of nowhere and development begins the rest of the way to downtown...

Land is significantly cleared since the previous picture, and walls are going up. Unfortunately I haven't see any signs indicating what will be inside of the walls. Anyone know?

We are currently working on Livnsideout in maulding which has good exposure from I-385 and I-185. Also they are starting another job right beside ours that will include townhomes. I think mauldin will eventually catch up.

It's now the location that Lathan describes as the "one of the best developable interchanges in the Upstate."

I'm sure at one point someone also said Woodruff Rd was a very 'developable' interchange... now, it's a parking lot! :P

I wonder who the company could be that will be a first for the state??

I too wonder what new resturant it will be. I live about 2 miles or so down Grandview from this location. I know it sounds far fetched but it would be nice if they could make the area more walkable. With all the work they have done on the interchange and the new sidewalks they put in, it would be nice if they went somewhere other than just in fron of the new developments along WGR. There is plenty of room to put a sidewalk along Grandview all the way up to Fairview on at least one side.

the sidewalks are a good idea, it wouldn't be too much trouble to connect them on up to Fairview and would bring everything together. Some sidewalks down West Georgia Rd would be nice too, down to Rocky Creek Rd or so.
