aerial of downtown Greensboro with the Southside area of downtown in the foreground. Also aerial of the Sheraton Four Seasons/Joseph S. Koury Convention Center, one of two 1,000 plus room hotels in the state. The other one being Harrahs Casino in Cherokee.

The aerial reveals that downtown is much larger than people realize and parts of downtown are still missing from the aerials. Greensboro's compact skyline makes downtown appear much smaller than it really is when looking at ground level skyline photos. You can also see how dense downtown really is.

Murrow Blvd, named after Greensboro native Edward R. Murrow (American broadcast journalist for CBS) was originally suppose to be a part of a freeway loop around downtown like in Charlotte. It was suppose to link to a freeway running parallel to Gate City Blvd all the way to coliseum. It was never completed and now part of Murrow Blvd will be a part of the downtown greenway.

The new LED lights have been turned on on the Lincoln Financial Building. It has a purple hue and they also have them shining up the tower from the base. The old lights were amber. The new lights can be programmed to change colors.

We just moved to Burlington from Rocky Mount about a month ago and went to Greensboro today to visit Edward McKay's bookstore (sorry the Raleigh location closed).  We found some great books and movies and then drove through downtown.  I was really impressed with all the shops, restaurants, and bars on Elm Street!  We'll definitely have to make another trip over there soon!  I'm also excited to explore the rest of the Triad...Winston-Salem, High Point, Pilot Mountain, Thomasville, etc.
