Yes indeed buckett..they did a fantastic job adding all those windows at street level...that's why I was sorry for not getting a better pic. One of the hippest intersections around..just wish they could have done something like an off white for the hotel; like beige/tan/cream..something subtle...is it too much white with Hilton across the street & the old water tower??

  • 2 weeks later...

just be happy there's a new business downtown?

What?? Interesting response! Of course I'm happy!! Can't you tell by the hundreds/thousands of post here on UP abt downtown's nice comeback/renaissance over the years?? I'm thrilled!!!!

> RiverPark Pavillion = YOUR WORDS "White will fade and look as tacky as hell"... That's your opinion, I repect that; It's OK for you to dislike white...but not me?? I can't dislike white?? when I talk about the new Hotel Indigo???? DOUBLE SPEAK dude....

YET you dig up one of my post that makes a request/complaint?? I'm not entitled to my opininion?? Where is the respect?? How bout just posting "I'm happy it's a new business for downtown" and leave my post out of this?? You do act like your the only one allowed to have an opinion/complaint/request??

>Your SW BR Thread...YOUR WORDS "that tacky casino resort opens? I forsee traffic, pawn shops and a lot of undesierable types trafficing thru the area. Which will be a shame. The corner of bluebonnet/Nicholson is a great area for neighborhoods or a park. Won't happen with the casino there". Then later I POST my dislike of Pinnacle Casino location...your answer.."Yeah Who Needs those jobs" What?? It's DOUBLE SPEAK!

Already spent too much time posting this to you...if you'd like me to ignore you..that's cool..I will! You bring nothing to the table..believe that!

I have been here in the BR Forum for 5 years...Wanted to say CONGRATS! You won the "Gold" medal in the Aggrevation Award...I get along with everybody; if I don't chances are they have issues(not that I'm perfect)! So let's PLEASE try to get along..it's OK to agree to disagree w/o being rude...people here on UP have had no problems with this!

Richy, just so you know, I don't have time to refute your attack on me today but I will respond in a day or so.

This "itsjustme2" guy, is he even real? Cajun and I have hypothesized he is one of the UPer's in disguise, just here to stir the pot and seek some sort of childish revenge with anonymity.

I'm coming to a similar conclusion. His/her only apparent motive is to disagree with everyone else even if it means contradicting him/herself.

I haven't seen a mod since I've been here, it was worth a shot to try and help.

What is the future of Hotel Indigo? Can downtown sustain a new large hotel along with the one in River Park? What is bringing these people to Baton Rouge?

I think downtown can support even more Hotels. I really believe its the "new" trend. When people visit a city, they want to be where the action is, preferably in a place where they can visit the city, with out needing to rent a car. Downtowns make it easy to do that, and there are bars, restaurants, and cultural attractions within walking distance. I really believe Wampold's development and Pinnacle will be the last "High Quality" hotels built in the suburbs and we will continue to see most new developments take place in and around downtown.

I personally believe its the best way to see the city! When you stay in New Orleans, do you stay in a hotel by the airport? No! You find the cheapest hotel you can downtown! Thats how I like to travel in major cities anyway, and I know all of my friends would agree.

I concur, but who visits Baton Rouge? Especially for fun..

You're right, I doubt its many people.....

But I think even people who are passing through town, or on a business trip, if they have to stay in a Hotel, prefer to stay in a hotel in an "urbanish" atmosphere. For the above reasons I mentioned.

I agree. I like to stay at hotels downtown. Another hotel I'd like to see is one on top/near part of the River Center. But without a major family destination, large convention center, or more business I can't see more hotels selling rooms. Even though we have the Shaw, museums, Kidd, and casinos, we need more.

I fail to see your connection. All I said was that a white canopy top will look tacky after a few years and seasons.

I didn't DIG up your opinion. I simply responded with my opinion. You act as if you were targeted for a reason when in fact I did no such thing. It's as if you are either grasping at straws in a attempt to slander me OR you are a tad paranoid.

>Your SW BR Thread...YOUR WORDS "that tacky casino resort opens? I forsee traffic, pawn shops and a lot of undesierable types trafficing thru the area. Which will be a shame. Are you saying that we SHOULDNT have those jobs? Because we do. HOWEVER we don't need the casino in a nice and quiet part of Baton Rouge. It will surely have a negative effect on the area (crime, blight, traffic, etc). Again, I'm afraid you are taking offense to someone who doesn't share your point of view.

Already spent too much time posting this to you...if you'd like me to ignore you..that's cool..I will! You bring nothing to the table..believe that!

So you call me rude and then you post a hateful and disrespectful message to me? You're a very rude person and if you had any maturity you would apoogize. I am mature enough to accept it when/if you decide to do so.

Thanks

^ This is a public forum so obviously everyone is privileged to their own opinion...HOWEVER, personal attacks simply aren't allowed. I don't care how many posts you have or who called who what. If you guys continue to berate one another, then obviously no party is better than the other. If you guys can't get along then, as GRDadof3 stated, we're going to start handing out suspensions.

If you guys really don't want to see posts from someone, you can block that person from showing up. You can do that here: http://www.urbanplanet.org/forums/index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=members&area=ignoredusers

I honestly think all these hotels live largely off of football and to a lesser extent Mardi Gras. I also think they're waiting for another big hurricane. But as Buckett said, I think all the new "high quality" hotels will built downtown.

I think you are right.

There are so many hotels in Baton Rouge. Considering the town has no beach or other tourist draw. It has to be a business crowd and a draw for the universities.

Downtown is a perfect location for such a hotel investment. I'm not surprised that the hotel market is expanding there.

Hotel guest don't have a kitchen (usually), and tend to go out for at least two meals a day and for entertainment in the evenings. I think the economic benefit for a hotel building is greater than that of an apartment building with respect to Baton Rouge.
