I wonder if one location could be that "BIG" announcement that would force ICAR to start their second neighborhood...? Something in ICAR could have that interstate visibility factor and ICAR would definitely be an added plus for moving here... Hmm :dontknow:

WHOA !!

I skip the forum for a few days, and THIS happens.

The council is voting for Fee In Leiu of Taxes agreements (FILOT), which only a county can do, not a city. Therefore, there is no reason to think one or more of the components is mandated to be outside the city of Gville. As alluded to earlier, all that Laurens County's participation means, is that they will receive 1% of the FILOT revenues in exchange for 'use' of their more favorable economic development tax breaks.

Usually by the time a project is getting approval for a FILOT, the project is pretty likely to happen. Keep your fingers crossed. Let's hope at least part of this is a DT HQ.

Two thoughts....

Didn't the Rolls Royce project to include a site for making engines for the fighter jet and the A380 and a US HQ?

Also, think this might have anything to do with the recent article that people are looking at the Gateway site?

The fighter jet of the future will use carbon fiber from the Cytec plant at Donaldson, so perhaps Rolls-Royce will indeed be locating one of their new operations here in Greenville? I don't think that would qualify as a "large HQ" though. :dontknow:

Rolls-Royce did recently move all of their operations out of Sudan due to the Darfur crisis. Don't know if this has anything to do with that or not. Don't you just love it when a certain forum member finds something this large on the internet nobody else knew about? ;)
