Now people in Downtown and Oakland can rent cars by the hour. This is a really good service, from what I have heard about it. I think it'll be great for students especially.

The list of cities where this is offered is smallish, so we're getting in on it relatively early. (The service has been around since 1999, but it's far from being everywhere).

Other cities where it's offered: Seattle; Los Angeles; San Francisco; San Diego; Portland, Ore.; Chicago; Baltimore; Philadelphia; Atlanta; Washington and Gainesville, Fla.

I got to drive some of the cars around this evening to reposition them. They are all very nice and fun to drive. If you can find 40 people in your neighborhood you can most likely get Flexcar to expand there after they are done with their pilot projects in Downtown and Oakland...I'm already lobbying for Lawrenceville. I think it would kill here!
