Terry Marks, principal of tmarks design ( http://www.tmarksdesign.com ), a multi-disciplinary design and marketing firm in Seattle, will speak to the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Rhode Island chapter members and guests. Marks will speak on a critically important topic for us all -- how to combine pleasure and profit. We've all got to earn a living, whether we're fresh out of college, at a midpoint in our careers, or rethinking our professional options...why not do something that you love and make money at the same time? Marks, whose clients include D.C. Comics, Microsoft, and Adobe, also writes and illustrates children's books, short stories and films.

"We're delighted that Terry is coming from his coast to the East Coast to talk to folks from AIGA Rhode Island and others about combining pleasure and profit," says AIGA Rhode Island President Josh Silverman. "I've heard Terry speak at other AIGA panels and he's always entertaining and provocative, and leaves the audience with much to think about."? Marks will also stop into a few design classrooms to offer critiques.

Marks has extensive speaking experience, having addressed such diverse audiences as those at the Ad Federation of Honolulu, the HOW International Design Conference, the AIGA annual meeting, Make a Wish Foundation, and numerous universities. This is Marks' first time speaking to a New England audience, so don't miss this opportunity to hear a legend in the design world. His nonprofit work includes working with Powerful Voices (www.powerfulvoices.org), and Art with Heart (for which he co-chaired the development of the award-winning Oodles of Doodles for Your Noodle), and The Link Program (www.thelinkprogram.org). Marks also helped found ASTAR (www.astarcenter.org) and is a member of the organization's Executive Board.
