The Cotton Bowl at Fair Park is set to undergo renovations that will help keep the venue competitive in keeping major college football games. The city of Dallas will contribute $30 million from voter improved bonds while the State Fair of Texas will add another $20 million. Some of the improvements that will be made include new and expanded seating (92,000) and a new scoreboard.

After having lost the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic to the new Cowboys Stadium in Arlington starting in 2010, city leaders stated they wanted to have a college football game at the Cotton Bowl every weekend during the four week State Fair. They were successful in extending the contracts of the Texas-Oklahoma and Prairie View A&M-Grambling games through 2015.

Now, it appears that they are close to landing an annual game between Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. It is believed that the game would begin play at the Cotton Bowl in 2008. No word yet on when an official announcement is expected to take place.
