The property owners website describes the center as:

The Current at Lee Vista will incorporate the freshness of the Florida modern style combined with the warm materials of Central Florida. The street scape and landscaping will give The Current the edgy, energetic and young environment which will position it as a world class destination. These materials can be combined in creative and unexpected ways to create mystery, excitement and a truly modern expression. Florida Modern Style has been traditionally incorporated into the community in small doses. Used on a broader scale and with a blend of unexpected materials, this style will create a powerful, modern visual environment enveloping well developed, exciting, public, pedestrian spaces with drama, simplicity, and an eclectic materials pallet drawn from the local architecture.

At least there won't be a shortage of parking. And it's good to know that Orlando's (vs. other areas) Super Target is now the main attraction of a world class destination. What I think will be the greatest asset to this development will be the upscale consumers purchasing decibel meters to see how loud the jets are!!! There needs to be a Discovery Store or Brookstone with those. They will fly off the shelves. :stop:

Now where is that spoon I was gagging on back in the 80s when they started these strip malls.

This looks reminiscent of Waterford Lakes or the Loop. Does anyone know if there are plans for a movie theater? It would make sense cause the closest theaters I think are Premier and Festival bay. That side of town desperatley need shopping. I can't help but wonder what tourist must think once they leave the airport and they see nothing but a chillis and a cracker barrell. Maybe once this is built people who visit Orlando will see the other side of Orlando.

It sounds like the property owners used a random cool adjective generator to write a press release with only minor editing.

Maybe I should be high or something to understand this. :dontknow: Spend this 'imaging' money into something besides vague guidelines (and I'm talking about the no doubt forthcoming 50 page design 'concept') and press releases!

Target is better than a Wal-Mart, sure, but I still don't know about the future for big retail like this. Not a bad location..if only it was connected by light rail or something to the airport and nearby neighborhoods? Oh, if only.

"The Current" construction is well under way on Lee Vista. Uno's has been added to the list of restaurants going in and a Pets Mart Pet Hotel is getting built.

The Wal-Mart supercenter and Kohl's opened up this week in the Lee Vista area(see above). I'm no fan of Wal-Mart, but they are doing a nice job with the elevations in this plaza. Both this Wal-Mart plaza and the Home Depot/Kohl's plaza have a lot of land for additional retail. With the Super Target going in, there will be a lot of activity in Lee Vista for new retail through the end of 2009.
