Idea unveiled for life science development

By JULIUS A. KARASH The Kansas City Star

As Kansas City pursues a life sciences strategy, developer Hugh Zimmer is floating a plan to develop a research and business park east and north of Hospital Hill.

Details remains sketchy, but Zimmer said in an interview Wednesday that such a development could generate thousands of new jobs and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of urban core redevelopment.

Zimmer said life science parks adjacent to Hospital Hill would benefit from the presence of Truman Medical Center, Children's Mercy Hospital, Western Missouri Mental Health Center and the health schools of the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
