Strip Club Laws

Recommended Posts

I seem to remember some fun stories in the Democrat several years ago (probably 1999 or 2000) when a couple women who worked for the state made some fliers advertising themselves as an escort service and delivered them to all the legislators' offices. They were not very attractive and, I think, swore that they were just talking about escorting, not prostituting.

Did a little search and found an article about it. It was 1999, and they actually sent the fliers to lobbyists, not legislators. 1999 article Article doesn't say anything about them being state workers either, so I probably remembered that wrong too.

I am curious, I would like to know how many would like to have a strip club here in Tallahassee or near by. I thought they were fun down in South Florida. I know that the White Collar Business would often do lunch and take potential clients to them as a way to break the ice. Allot of them are very Fancy, Limos, Haircuts, Shoes shined, Cigar Bars,Gourmet meals, Marble Floors Top of the line bars....... They were not just places for men but for Lady's as well. Most were just places to let your hair down, watch some sports, chill with friends and co-workers and well look at the Lady's. :camera:

We should put up a poll here so every one can vote anonymously to see who would or wouldn't like an Adult bar in town. Could be fun. How bout it TJ?

LOL! I'm not sure the admin's would want two threads that concern strip clubs. But why not a nice show of hands?! :D I have no problem with them as I enjoy the "art" myself. But I'd like to hear what others are thinking.

I seem to remember strip clubs last being a topic in the news several years ago (maybe around 1998). I want to say that someone tried to open a place downtown that got cute with the ordinances but only managed to be open for one night. It may have been something where it was BYOB (with the second B meaning booze and not another B word). I might be remembering something from Gainesville though.

Leave it to a Clear Channel employee to remember the details. :)

Beukeboom sounds so familiar to me, and I am thinking that I must know you. I worked for WNLS (and occasionally a couple other stations when they aired Gator or Tigershark games) part-time in 98 and 99. I was affectionately known as Gatorboy thanks to the Locker Room crew. Other than occasional speaking parts on the Locker Room, my work was primarily staying awake long enough to play the commercials during Seminole baseball and football games.

I'd be interested in that too DD5. I'm also curious as to why one has not popped up in one of our neighboring counties right at the line. I see that a lot in other communities.

I also have always been surprised by the fact that a college city our size and w/our large student population has no "head shop." Usually those type of places are a hallmark of a college town even this day in age. I'm not looking to go there, well except maybe for a black-light Pink Floyd poster :D , but these type of exclusions in any community always interest me as far as the reason and origins for such exclusions. Once I asked a well connected long-time resident of this area why this was so and he answered the question by saying: Willie Meggs doesn't like them. Whether that is true or not, I don't know. But that makes me wonder if this is the same answer for the lack of strip clubs in our area?

^Great find mracca! Some friends told me about the place last week, but I'd failed to make it over there yet....even though it's and 4 blks from my house.

Hopefully Willie (grown men like to be professionally called Willie?) Meggs will be so busy w/the Hoffman trial and his war w/TPD and FDLE that he won't rush over and try to shut this place down.

My Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" poster is getting rather old and tattered, I'm gonna try and make it over there soon to get me a new one.

Thanks for sharing.

So where can I find the local strip club laws. The city site is useless and I found something on the county site, saying "No alcoholic drink may be served at a strip club".

I know there is a ban on strip clubs in tallahassee (or Leon County). I just need more info on it.
