The Waters - Traditional Neighborhood Development

Recommended Posts

The Waters, a 2,400-unit, 1,200-acre traditional neighborhood development (TND), is the largest new home community in the Montgomery area (Pike Road). A new, 200-acre lake was planned with eight surrounding hamlets. Lucas Point is the first of those hamlets to be developed.

Steve Mouzon, an Alabama native and architect in Miami's Placemakers firm, designed The Waters.

An interesting article about the development of The Waters was published earlier this year in The Town Paper. Infrastructure is complete at the first hamlet, Lucas Point, and over 80 percent of the lots have been sold there. Infrastructure construction has now begun on the second Hamlet, Welch Cove, and it should be ready to open soon. House prices have ranged from $158,000 to up to $1.5 million. Businesses in the town center are thriving.

Great project, but I wish it were in Montgomery rather than the town of Pike Road.
