As far as I know, we have several guest coming. What I am going to do is go early, get the seating ready, walk to the implosion, walk back and hopefully everything will be done so I can be back by 10.

I spoke to Mark yesterday and at that time we thought the Implosion was going to be at 8:30, but it looks like 9:30.

There are no events a Municipal this weekend, so parking will not be an issue.

However a heads up for next month..........Cheerleading competition starts at 7:00AM on the 2/3/18. Make plans accordingly as parking will be screwed up.

Due to many wanting to view the Draper Tower implosion at 9:30 on Saturday morning, we have moved the start time for our January Urban Planet Nashville Monthly Meet-Up back 15 minutes to 10:15 AM (still ending at noon) this Saturday, January 6th.   The gathering will still be at La Lluna Taqueria at 300 James Robertson Parkway (NW corner of JRP and 3rd Ave. North).

Special guest will be Mary Beth Ikard, Manager of Mayor's Office of Transportation & Sustainability to talk about the new mass transit plan and field questions.   Should be a great group.  Hope you can join us!

How confident are you that the demolition will actually occur at 9:30 as scheduled?

I can't help but think of all the concerts and things I have attended which have practically zero chance of actually starting at their scheduled time... It seems like this situation, with its large potential for incidental injury and collateral damage, would be that much more likely to be delayed for a myriad of reasons.

I'm hopeful and plan to observe, but also skeptical about the tight timeline adjacent to the meetup.

Our next Urban Planet Nashville Meet-Up will be this Saturday, Feb. 3rd, from 10 AM to noon at Luna Llena Taqueria (300 James Robertson Parkway, at the NW corner of JRP and 3rd Avenue North).  We have two months worth of  announcements/news to catch up on since we had a special speaker in January.  Lots of big stories to discuss like the Elmington Reservoir development, Greer Stadium Cloud Hill project bowing out,  Nashville making final 20 cut for Amazon HQ2, Creed 16 story Midtown tower renderings, Tennessee State Library/Archives groundbreaking,  VAndy 20 story tower groundbreaking, Ballpark apartments to start this month, MLS franchise awarded to Nashville, more Nashville Yards renderings, Draper Tower implosion, and much more.  A full agenda will be posted on this thread by Wednesday at the latest.

The cheerleading event will be happening at Municipal Auditorium, so the parking lot behind the restaurant might be full.  But there should be free street parking within a few blocks, as well as plenty in garages around the neighborhood should you want to pay.  The restaurant has a nice array on their breakfast/brunch menu, as well as great coffees and other beverages.   Hope to see you there!  : )

Another lively Meet-Up on Saturday morning.  Afterwards, most of us walked over to the just-opened and very cool Fairlane Hotel (where we were given a tour....pics to be featured soon).  Also walked around to 505 CST, the brand new Woolworth on 5th restaurant, and through the historic Arcade.
