I should be there, but I'm not sure yet - several things need to fall in place for the day to work right.

EDIT: Yeah probably not going to make it. I have to pick up a couple new appliances in Nolensville and am pretty much on-call in the morning hours. Ron - the burden is on you my friend, my apologies!

The east side is a large area. We could cover different parts at different times.

Or we could go with West Nashville (Nations, Sylvan Park) or 8th/12th, and then go with EN when Bret (and hopefully all the other EN residents) can attend in April.

  • 2 weeks later...

I spoke to Ron, and we will have a mini meet this Saturday at Bongo Java in East Nashville in Five Points at 10:30 am. Not the usual type of meet. We may just get coffee and walk around the area.

So far we have myself, Ron, WW, possibly Daniel, Kevin and maybe Brett?

Hope to see a few people. There is a lot going on in East Nashville.

When's the next "real" meet up? I'd love to come out and meet everyone.

Well, they are all 'real'. At the last mini-meet, we had about half the usual crowd (half a dozen of the usual dozen). So you are welcome to come to any of them.

But to answer your question, the primary meets are the first Saturday of each month at 10 am at Provence inside the Main Library downtown.

I need to get some folks in the car so that you can see what is happening all over East Nashville:  good and bad.  As usual, Five Points can be toured in about five minutes, even on foot.  But have you seen Chicamauga Ave Townhomes in Greenwood, Walden's new addition in Eastwood/Lockeland, the Post coffee shop/Olive & Sinclair's new space on Fatherland in Lockeland, Hop Stop et at at Gallatin/Trinity in East Hill, Riverside Village in Inglewood, the work going on at historic Highland Heights school (Kipp Academy) in Highland Heights, the quiet but rather amazing transformation of Dickerson Road's streetscape in McFerrin and Cleveland, the $300K houses going in McFerrin Park?

On the negative side, have you seen the 1400 block of Boscobel in Lockaland?  Avondale Drive's houses on stilts with moat bridges connecting them to the street?  The metastasizing umbilicals on Scott Avenue in Eastwood?  The rage of demolitions taking place on Spain and Delmas in East Hill or on Cahal Ave in South Inglewood for more umbilicals?

I would also love to give a quick driving tour of Tanglewood, the Jackson Park area of Inglewood where Mayor Briley lived, the Brush Hill/Moss Rose area where Roy Acuff built a couple of homes, the now famous "Disgraceland" mansion in Rosebank, and some other things that are hidden away.

I will stop by Bongo Java on Saturday and give a tour to anyone who wants one.  Come see what all the fuss is about!

This is the tip of the berg in East Nashville. A lot has happened in the last ten years and a lot is about to happen.
