Air Raid Sirens

With modern technology able to broadcast civil alerts via TV and radio, does GR or any other city still need sirens to alert citizen to dangers, such as sever weather, military attacks, terror attacks, etc?

I think they would help if you were asleep or doing something other than watching TV or listening to the radio ect.

Not every person is watching tv or listening to the radio 24 hours a day. Most people walking, shopping, etc. do not carry a radio around with them, and with the advent of internet/satelite radio and cd players in cars, not everybody driving through is listening to the radio, either.

EDIT: Thankfully, it was just Nitro playing that youtube clip in his office. I can relax now....
