I'm a little confused if someone can help me out here. Besides guerilla warfare during the birth of modern day Israel, when have Jews committed terror and repression, like christianity and islam?

I realize some people would see Israel's recent attacks on it's neighbors as terror. But in every case, it was in reaction to malevalent actions by said neighbors. It's not like Jews are terrorizing people in order to convert them~~~

This is true, and most Christians are basically decent people who I have no problem with. However, these aren't the Christians who are vocal and active in pushing political agendas. The agenda of the religious right is not a Christian one, regardless of the language they wrap it in.

Eugenics is socially-instituted prejudice justified by a pseudoscientific misunderstanding of genetics. The scientific community were among its most vocal critics. The Nazis forced Jews to undergo scientific tests because of their hatred for the Jews, not because of any particular scientific motive. This is yet another example of religious violence as much as anything else.

Science itself is not in the business of making value judgements, but rather in uncovering dry fact. It does not push people to discriminate in the same manner religion does. Virtually every religion claims to have the one truth, while all other religions are wrong and inherently inferior. You will never hear scientists make similar claims, as that all-or-nothing type of thought goes against the nature of science itself.

Much of the religious violence in the world is nothing more than political and/or social wars. Catholics and Protestants weren't killing each over in Northern Ireland over disagreements over transubstantiation. It was political in nature. The respective denominations simply represented both sides.

Well it's back to the drawing board for the Creationist Museum. They hired a guy to play the role of Adam, the first human on earth according to the Old Testimate. Apparently the museum did not know this actor is also porno star and operates a website called Bedroom Acrobatics.

The museum, upon learning this by reading of the fact in the the associated press, has pulled the story of Adam until further notice. hilarious.gifjester.gif

Gee. Didn't Adam and Eve run around naked in the woods and enjoy each other? Wonder why the museum has such a problem with a guy doing the same thing. well more or less. laugh.gif

Well this highlights the whole idea about creationalism. It isn't about education. It's about mind control. If these people can convince you that real science is irrelevant then they can convince you of anything including their own warped ideas of what they want you to think. That is a porno star isn't qualified to play "their Adam" because he doesn't meet their standard of an acceptable human being.

No real science is based on human judgments of moral character. This mind control is nothing but a power grab and when they are successful we see people calling shots for society that have no business doing so. The creationists have shown their true hand in this case and anyone who might believe in what they are dishing out might want to have a long hard look at it.

I went to a Catholic High School that had an excellent biology program, so the question was always raised in the department how to explain the discrepancies between science and the Bible. We were always told that the Bible story of creation wasn't to be taken literally, and that God's concept of time (i.e. 7 days) could be different from ours (millions of years). This always sat fine with me. If I learned one thing in my time there it was that you should NOT ever take the Old Testament literally word for word, for a lot of it is symbolic.

Oh the poetic justice of it all!!!!

If the guy that was to play Adam has done porno, then he should be perfectly comfortable running around wearing a fig leaf at the creation science museum.:)

If he's hetero, maybe he could suggest a gal from his day job to play Eve. Or if he's gay, he could get his boyfriend to play Yves! hehheee

If he's a porno star, he must have a damn nice body. The creationists should have stayed with him. He might have even brought in some secular traffic to the place.

I'll go you one further....not only do they think their porno Adam isn't an acceptable human being, they also think the same thing about anyone who isn't "saved".

I can't tell you how many times I've heard of Baptist preachers telling their congregants not to associate with "the lost" i.e. someone who isn't a religious fanatic. I guess they're afraid the truth might rub off on their brainwashed adherents.

Personally I don't think the creationists, religious fantatics and repressive preachers are acceptable human beings. I find it very very difficult to love those that hate.

I've been to many Baptist churches and while they always stress the need for salvation and redemption, and while they always stress resisting the temptations of the world, I've never heard a Baptist preacher utter anything about not associating with the lost.
