Thalian Hall to be designated North Carolinas Community Theater

Governor Easley will sign bill today designating Thalian Hall as North Carolina's Community Theater. Thalian Hall which was built in 1855-58, is city hall and the home of Thalian Association which was formed in 1788. The Thalian Association is the oldest continuous community theater in the country. Thalian hall is a beautiful theater which is in use almost every night of the week, if not by the Thalian Association then one of Wilmington's other theatrical groups.
