Zombies in Memphis

8 posts in this topic

In case people don't know, zombies invaded Memphis last weekend on Friday, May 25th. They stumbled down Beale and around the corner on Main, eventually joining the throngs for the Art Trolley Tour in the South Main Arts District. Nice to see Memphis get this sort of flash mob activity, which is characteristic of cities like SF, NYC, Seattle, Austin, etc etc.

Unedited news clip from Fox is here:

Plans are to make it bigger and better next year!

There wasn't really a "point" per se, not if you're looking for a specific message or cause or something. The idea was just to create a big, unexpected public spectacle and to use public space in a non-predictable way. The reactions from bystanders were priceless.

As for New York being much bigger, I'm really not sure, I don't know what the numbers were in NY, but it seems like a strange comparison to make considering the population of New York is many times the population of Memphis.

no i know i just heard about this happening all over the country and didn't know if there was a reason or organization behind it, very cool though.

I wasn't trying to make a comparison b/w Memphis and New York, obviously it would be bigger.

Is this an annual event?
