cellphones in downtown GR

i live at the Cherry Hill/Heritage Hill border, and i have Cingular wireless.

i dont really get good reception at all, neither does my neighbor on Alltel.

she's sat on the phone with her provider for hours, trying to figure out why....and then trying to get them to fix it.

they concluded that the houses are too close together downtown; it blocks the signals.

i have bad reception everywhere in my house except for the foot of my bed.

i dont have a landline either; i dont need one.

ive been happy with cingular, but is there a carrier that Grand Rapidians have found is better downtown?

I used to have problems with using Trac Fone in DT. With only a few exceptions that problem cured itself when I purchased a higher end flip phone with a larger external antennae.
