Train station subject of council debate

1. A businessman approached the Burgettstown Borough Council about the 100+-year train station on N. Main Street. It "may collapse". He has been unable to buy insurance for _his_ own building, which is adjacent to the train station, because of its condition.

2. The Burgettstown Area Community Development Corp. has reached an agreement to purchase the building from the Jim Valenti family. It is a non-profit community improvement group. It plans on renovating the building and renting the space to area businesses. A structural engineer reviewed the building on May 30, stating that it was comprised of 10.5-ft. by 12.5-ft. wooden beams and that it was "solid."

3. The businessman does not believe any of it and has threatened to sue the borough, the BACDC and Valenti.
