Radio market growing

The odd thing about this article to me is the discrepancy between the size of the TV and, now, radio markets and what the federal government thinks is our metro region.

Apparently there are a lot more people listening to the Charlotte TV and radio stations than are actually considered part of the Charlotte metro region. I realize that the federal definition of a metro region is different than the definition for a radio or TV market, but such a large difference between one and the other (we'll be the 25th largest radio and TV markets but only the 36th largest metro region) something seems a little out of whack to me.
