Ok, so, I think there's actually a reason to start this topic, finally. It appears that the Sexton's have finally decided to develope their property along the river that has been sitting there and looking ugly for years.

They haven't released a name as far as I can tell. But, the building is supposed to house twelve upscale condos overlooking the river.

""The preliminary response has been fantastic," said developer Britt Sexton. "Four units have already been reserved."

Sexton said unit prices range from $312,000 to $439,000."

Expected completion is December 2008

More than $10 million development in Decatur to offer upscale homes

A Hartselle developer plans to construct a $10 - 14 Million development on the riverfront in Decatur at the Brickyard Landing Marina.

The project, named Lighthouse Landing, will include 44 units and should begin construction in February of 08. Pre-selling of the units begins this weekend. Amenities include parking garages for unit owners, river access, and heavy landscaping.

This project is mostly due to the recent improvement of the area. Leon Sheffield was recently converted to the Magnet School, and the new Ingalls Harbor is located adjacent to the planned project area. So, this project will be all infill, nothing should be torn down in preparation for construction.

This is the second condo project announced this year that is situated along the Tennessee River in Decatur.

Developer plans condominiums near marina

The Decatur Planning Commision gave a favorable recomendation for a 20 acre development to be called Wheeler Pointe Marina. City Planning officials say that the lot's intended use is for condominiums.

The location is next to Alabama 20 just outside the Decatur city limits along with river next to the Pirate's Chest Marina.

This marks the third announced condo development in less than a year.

1) 12 luxury condos along the river next to Rhodes Ferry Park, just off Market Street. About .25 Mile from the US 31/Alt 72/AL 20 bridges over the river.

2) 44 upscale condos at Brickyard Landing Marina. This is next to the new Ingall's Harbor built by the city between Alabama 20 and the Tennessee River. Right across the street from Leon Sheffield Magnet Elementary School.

3) The most recent proposed next to the Pirates Chest Marina between Alabama 20 and the Tennessee River.
