That's really too bad. Ben Allen's voice was always one of the more reasonable ones on the council. Who do you expect will replace him? MArchland Crisler? Possibly. Stokes- Please God no. What about Margaret Barrett-Simon?

Yes, I knew that. I was just wondering who would replace him as council president. I suppose it's much more important to see who will replace him on the council. Frank Melton's wheels must be in high gear already to ensure that another rubber stamp is added. This could be very, very bad for Jackson. The thread at the JFP is interesting...

Selfishly for me, this was sad news indeed. Ben was a beacon of bright light for the city and a tireless promoter of the potential that so many don't see. I think he deserves a good deal of credit for the rebirth going on now. We will be hard pressed to find anybody to better represent the city as an elected official.

I wish Ben good health and the best. I also hope that now he can devote more time to his morning talk radio show that he had almost abandoned after being elected council president in an act of fairness to the other council members. The city of Jackson still needs Ben even if not in an elected position.
