New sponsors (ambitious canopy decor!), new freaks, new hairstyles. Ran into PRCH out front of the Friends.

Wonder what that horizontal bar is on the streetlamp pole. Could that be used to hold a colorful banner, maybe something to promote Monroe Center or DT or the BOTM event???

Balloon critter creators hard at work. Lots of folks walking around with nifty balloon things, and not just the standard poodles and flowers.

Guy says can he get a 2X. Seller says we're out, come back next time. Guy says he's from out of town at a convention, wants a souvenir. I said give the seller $13 have them mail it. Seller demurred, we don't know when we'll have more. "But that's a great idea." Upon reflection, he repeated, "that is an excellent idea...we'll put them on our website!"

In my continuing effort to propagate the culture of Louisiana and Mardi Gras throughout this area...

This week BOTM features a singer and a band from "the boot." From the Press:

Blues On the Mall will get a Southern infusion this week with the Louisiana stylings of Tab Benoit and backing band, LeRoux. Grammy nominated, New Orleans-based bluesman Benoit's music was recently featured in the Katrina documentary "Hurricane on the Bayou." He and the Louisiana pop-blues-rock band, LeRoux, will perform at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Rosa Parks Circle. The show is free.

In the movie, Tab was the guitarist driving the bayou watercraft and taking Amanda Shaw to go see the alligator mama. Should be excellent music, all we need is a jambalaya vendor!
