The city is 'attacking' the rodent population in the ballpark construction zone in preparation for demolition. If the city council approves the rezoning request Monday night, we should see demolition activity starting next week!!

The ballpark got the necessary zoning approved by city council last night. Demolition permits are already in hand, so I would expect to see activity on the site very, very soon!

Plans are still vague for that second phase of the project, but there are some things that won't be seen.

I take that to mean that some of the residential/shopping parts of this development won't happen?

My apologies, I read that wrong. I was skimming the story due to lack of time. Though it's a given that Winston's notorious anti-downtown reporter would write something like this.

i wouldnt worry too much in about phase 2 DaAchiever. like the ballpark, im assuming that the final sketches wont be revealed until later, right before it goes up for rezoning. those renderings that we saw months ago were preliminary.

Demolition appears to be underway. The old church seemed to be gone tonight as I exited off Green 40 to Peters Creek. Also saw several piles of building rubble. A fence has also been installed. One thing that did concern me, the street lights weren't working in the area.

Bye, bye neighborhood! It's going to be quite a task to get photos of construction since they have the perimeter of the site blocked off with gates. The only place I can get photos is from Peters Creek Parkway or the In 'n Out station on Broad. My only problem with those locations is that you can't see the progress real well.

I too never thought this would happen, but I'm glad to finally see some progress on this. One thing I've wondered is why did they board up those old homes if they don't even plan to start on the second phase anytime soon?

wow! so we did end up with a decent view of the skyline. the view will be really nice from the upper deck. now that we have earth moving, i wouldnt be suprised to hear other project proposed for the area. thanx for the pix.

why couldnt prim build the ballpark, movie theater and some retail in the phase 1 like he first announced? all this land clearing has made me impatient!
