I heard a very interestimg rumor the other day. I have a job at one of the outparcels around Cortana and one day the manager had to call mall security but they didn't come because apparently Cortana has been sold (and changed the security policy). Well, anyway were it could get good is that supposedly Cortana was sold to the same people that redid Hammond Square Mall, so hopefully something plays out....

Cortana is a complete hell hole and even the most liberal of liberals would have to admit that. Cortana can redesign itself all it wants but the fact remains that people with money won't go near Cortana much less shop inside it.

What does liberalism have to do with the concept of Cortana being a "Hell Hole?"

Its not aimed at high-dollar patrons, though. And with a major overhaul (big IF here) it would inspire more developments in the immediate area (Florida & Airline) and possibly some apartment buildings NE of the mall and possibly around Oak Villa and Choctaw. The reality is slim though.

you need to do some research. Cortana mall was "the" mall before it became what it is today.

Do you really think the developers built that huge mall and then said to themselves "ok, now let's make the inside and the stores look really crappy and run down"?

I work in the area so I think any improvement would be awesome.

For what it's worth....Broadmoor shopping center is happening, and I know for a fact that a decent quality retailer is going in.

Florida Blvd's service roads are not ideal for most retail.

Good to know a Houstonian takes Forbes magazine as a expert when it comes to how great a university is.

btw, when you googled LSU ranking I guess you overlooked this one:

http://www.lsu.edu/h...08/usnews.shtml

:whistling: That actually makes Louisiana look bad vs making LSU look good. All the US News rankings prove is that LSU is the only Tier 1 university in the state and then it's ranked 124 at that. That's not to mention that US News rankings sometimes tend to lean more toward endowments and campus life then necessarily academics and graduation rates. There are cities alone with more universities in their corp. limits that rank higher than LSU on the US News list, yet we as a state only have one. Give me a break. Good to know that a Baton Rougean takes LSU's website and US News as an expert when it comes to how great the university is.

Not necessarily a fan of Houston either, but apparently they're doing something right, since they spot #16 on that same list of universities nationally.

Are you talking about the corner of Jones creek and Coursey? Looking on google earth I see 4 man made lake/ponds. That area is also across from a church and a school so I'd bet money that it's going to be a new subdivision.

Yeah that's the area I'm talking about. I heard it might be a subdivision, but I'm not sure when or what exactly it would be. Cant seem to find any info on the land, I guess time will tell.

Good question..kind of doubtful in the short term..if ever IMO. I can see the southern 1/2(Corporate side) being developed one day. Not many cities BR's size can boast a large chunk of land that size being undeveloped in the middle of the city.

Thanks. Yeah I just figured it would infill and join in with Towne Center, but I guess not, I guess its kind of a wait and see.....

I don't think it'll ever be developed either.

(¡History Lesson!)

(Y'all already know I did some research, lol)

Actually it's not really "vacant" land, but Steven said part of the Cedar Lodge Plantation/Witter Estate/Live Oak Arabian complex.

From one book I read on Baton Rouge, I gathered that the land was part of the Witter family for at least a hundred years. They might have owned it longer than that though, according to their website they have oak trees on the property over 500 years old. They also have a pretty impressive oak alley down Whitter Ln, which you can see from Jefferson Hwy.

At the end of the road there also appears to be what seems like a plantation house although, I don't know if its "real" or not. If it is, it'll be the number 9th plantation house(that I know about) in town.

I don't know if they've always raised horses, but today they raise Arabian/Arabian-mixed show horses. It looks like they got a real good thing going on over their because I took a look at some of their horse, and some are the direct offspring of Huckleberry Bey (I know a little about horses, and from what I know that is a very famous stallion).

•Strip centers are being built on O'Neal Lane by Kindercare and Gardere Lane by GSRI St I think

• Something is going up behind Cortana on Commerce Ave

•An Investors bank I think is going up at Acadian and Perkins, hopefully it'll be in the style of the proposed development

• A nice looking house is going up on Stanford

• The Pinnacle casino is coming along nicely, the frame kinda looks like the bigger new Pennington addition and there are about 4 or 5 roundabouts, I felt like I was on the tilt-a-whirl
