We need a link between Hartford and Providence, and personally, I'd prefer a train. Providence in and of itself would be a great city to partner with because of its recent renaissance, but what makes it really worthwhile is the improved accessibility to Boston. Linking to Providence is linking to another major city b/c the T goes from Providence to Boston. Also, it would make it much quicker to get to the Cape. It's startling to me that there isn't a highway--and I know there's a long history of planning one. Now we have the opportunity to plan like Europeans and, rather than a highway, go straight for the train. The train would be profitable b/c the alternative (driving on Route 6 or 44) is so much less desirable.

Hmmm...

I would like to see it, however I would like to see two other things happening with I 384, I would love to see the midland route to Willimantic in operation, so commuter rail can be used - and frieght and passenger trains, too. I would like to see RI and CT get togetherand rebuild the line from Providence to Plainfield.

Now, if those lines get rebuilt, it would be nice. Commuter service from Hartford to Providence.

We need to bypass the Army Corps of Engineers to get the road built, they'll never build it even though suicide 6 is one hell of a scary road.Incidentally I live near Notch Rd. in Bolton and use it frequently, would you guys tell your friends to slow down at the end of 384 where it splits into 44 and suicide so locals whom live here don't get clobbered by passers through,we locals would appreciate that very much.

Is Fish ever going to build that golf course?

Where will the golf course be at? Is his ice cream store still open? I miss it. Being in Florida, I do miss Shady Glen, Hosmer Mountain sodas, Fish Family Farms ice cream, Dr.Mikes and the UConn Dairy Barn ice cream. I also miss UConn sports but I listens to it online and read about UConn soccer and hockey and basebal via the net.

The whole Fish Farm was going to be developed as a golf course, but the story goes that once Donny started actually farming he loved it so much he couldn't bring himself to build. It would be bordered by Rt. 85 and Notch Rd. He even built some houses that were supposed to be on the course - it's kind of funny having three streets named Golf Rd., Fairway Rd., and Country Club Rd. but nary a golf course in sight! The ice cream store is still there - he has a few 'family days' a year with games, hayrides, free ice cream etc.

I go to Cape Cod a lot and I'm sick and tired of having to choose between the Mass Pike-495; 384-Suicide Six-Providence-195; and 2-95-195. You can also go 2-395 and catch Route 6 at the state line, but that's not faster than the Mass Pike route. I want to hop on 384 in East Hartford, take it all the way to Providence, and then get on 195. It's ridiculous there is no direct interstate between these close state capitals.

But that's just me. :)

91N to 84E? Wouldn't that be the Charter Oak Bridge? My only problem with that is ... people unnecessarily slow way the hell down on the ramps between the Bridge and 91 and vice versa and I nearly slam into the back of someone. I don't necessarily think there's a engineering problem.

yup, I usually do that on the way back, have a friend along that way that I stop and see.

Likewise, another amazing shortcut is when going to misquamicut or the casinos-

Instead of 2, take 384-6-87-32-norwich.

This makes the casino ride feel like 10 minutes, there is NOBODY on the backroads of liberty hill connecticut!!

I absolutely hate driving backroads, especially at night. That's pretty much why I would have a strong preference for an insterstate I guess. None of these crazy backroads options seem like anything I would want to try to drive. Maybe it's just me though, but I always get uneasy when I'm away from populated areas and out in the woods in the dark. Just not my cup of tea I suppose.

At least 44, 74, and 6 (especially the first two) while middle of nowhere are good roads to drive on. 101 has problems in Dayville right now with construction for an upcoming shopping plaza. I don't really remember it east of Dayville, but it's very hilly ... it's near the high point of R.I. at Jerimoth Hill. It's not as narrow or in poor pavement condition due to all the thru traffic.

I think most of us would be in favor of putting commuter rail in place of 384 ... and if we can't do that then maybe 384 gets extended.

Quite frankly, I'm bored with 44/74 and 6. Yes, 384 would ruin the rural nature of Windham County and be a environmental risk to Scituate, etc... I would like to see a highway built if we can't get more efficient mass transit in place instead.
