Charlotte Photo of the Day

Here're a couple of shots I took a few days ago:

1) From my 'new' balcony at Trademark: http://www.ibscc.org/deck1.JPG

2) From the roof of the warehouse where I work in N.Charlotte: http://www.ibscc.org/downtown1.jpg

The one from my warehouse roof is not as nice as I'd like. It was cold that day and I didn't have a tripod. It's pretty amazing when there're clouds too.

I love how the Ave looks. Just wish it was maybe 100 feet taller. Can't wait until Wachovia is finished as it will balance out that second shot. Epicenter will do wonders for that angle also. Its just amazing that 30 story towers look so short in the QC skyline but if they were standing alone they would look "talller". For example add Trademark and Carillon to Greensboros skyline we would say they fit in so well. But in Charlottes' skyline they kinda just fill in. I'm crossing my fingers that the Vue tops out and one that absolutely needs to get built is the One Charlotte. Imagine the impact that baby will make...then imagine all of the photos of the skyline that will get uploaded on the web. As if we need more people to be green with envy!

Those are a couple of prizewinning pictures. Please enter them in the contest this year. Really good.

Thanks for all the kind words! I never really had much luck taking photos, but I do recognize that these two are pretty good angles of our fair city. I'll work on the one from the rooftop of the warehouse. You should see that angle after a rain, and when the sun hits the buildings as it's going down. It truly will be an amazing view when the Wachovia building tops out.

I remember in elementary school we did a field trip downtown and went inside to look at the murals. Not sure if they still do that or not.

All the time. I see little kids being led around town (often holding a string and in-line like a row of ducks!) to many places including these murals and those in BofA. I see quite a few activity busses during the day as well. Discovery Place and Imaginon have increased the field trips to town by a huge amount.

Gorgeous!

OK- so I had my two friends from out of town down here and showing them the city, because they've heard out great it is and are thinking of moving down. I find out my one friend is a photographer for Emporis. He brought his digital SLR everywhere and I took him to all of the nice spots for photos. This one will be for todays photo-of-the-day. We took this from on the 5th floor at Skybridge Terrace. BTW- did a great job advertising, because my one is choosing to move here over Jacksonville and Tampa Bay, pending on a job. They LOVED the light rail and felt the city was fairly large and especially liked all of the projects under construction like EpiCentre.
