oh my god, the parking deck is taller than 526 South Church

Leaving the game last night I noticed the deck is also taller than the Upper Deck concourse of BoA Stadium too.  Granted it's up hill a bit from the stadium but I was surprised to see that

Goodness that parking deck is going to be a maze! Can they just start work on the parcel facing Mint asap to cover that up?!

That deck is a monstrosity. I wonder if it'll be listed among Charlotte's tallest. What's it gonna be 150 feet?

 

EDIT: It actually takes away from the size of DEC and LU. Thing is, it's hard to hide a deck that size in city like Chicago, but in Charlotte, that thing dominates (in a bad way).

Whoever designed the LU site plan and garage needs to be fired and banned from urban planning. In fact, Lincoln Harris should just be banned from urban developments.

Hehe.  Been following the interesting comments.  All I'll say is, whatever else is going in there must be one hella development to demand a structure that size (good thing long term).  That's a biggun.

Reminds me, theres people in the Raleigh forum that are complaining about their new deck, I will have to send this to them.

This is big in Raleigh and I took this photo a week or so ago. New parking garage at the One Glenwood Tower in Raleigh and of course our own Legacy garage.   Which please remember will be blocked from the Graham stadium side by future towers and blocked the other direction as well.  And remember there are multiple points of entry and exit from S Church and S Graham.

Just checking out the ClearSky galleries and check out this one from August of 2013 just a little over 5 years ago.  WOW the changes and how much has been built just since then.

Those 2005-2008 photos show how much Charlotte building was due to vanity and competition between two banks and bank leaders  rather than direct general business interests. Our development is due to general growth and a broader base. All for the better.

Couple skyline and uptown shots today.  

1. most of these buildings in the foreground were not present just a couple years ago   2. 2 of the best buildings uptown.  3. view of the pyramid taking shape and how Legacy will appear on the skyline   4. Mint Museum  5. St Peters Catholic Church started because of all of the Irish gold miners in town back in the day 6. 300 South Tryon Barings still love this building  7.  another tall parking garage but because of retail on the ground floor and a 4 story Courtyard by Marriott it is forgotten
