Ha ha...they did it I bet because of the Chic Fil A sign over Golds Gym that read "Welcome to Charlotte, the chikin city." It is at the Golds Gym over by the light rail. I would upload the photo if I could!

That's our landmark.  It'd be like taking a picture of the NYC skyline without have the Statue of Liberty somewhere in it.

I saw the picture below in the Observer, and I thought "wow-how quintessentially Charlotte".  It has everything including more power lines than a small power plant, and a stick-built, five story apartment building under construction.  Outside BofA's tower in uptown Charlotte, there is nothing more "Charlotte" than this.

Sad but true.

Duke will never, ever bury the power lines.

Everything will convert to solar and then they'll dismantle the lines.

But 5-story stick-built apartments wrapped around a garage will still be all the rage.

I actually like the power lines, it adds character to neighborhoods if you get what I mean. And is North End the new South End?
