By your username I assume you may be familiar with the Nashville skyline, but the at@t building in downtown Nashville looks like an evil lair to me. I remember the first time visiting Nashville and thinking that.

It's called the Batman Building.  So, we have the good guy.

And actually, just moved back to Charlotte a week ago.  Now I have to find a place to live.  Real estate is incredibly expensive here.

I really love how Charlotte is expanding a dense urban core right now and is doing it kind of organically. I like it as long as it's done with urban development in mind which many projects have tried to cater to.

Love this angle for a skyline shot. Today. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah Charlotte!

I have been in Charlotte for Christmas most of my life with just a few years away and this is with me living in the DC area, Philly and San Antonio for many years. 

Here are some photos of uptown Charlotte from my 1975 postcard folder. 1. South Tryon Streeet taken from the lawn at the Charlotte Observer building and notice the 2 tire stores Firestone where Duke Energy Center is and the Goodyear where Tryon Place will rise. These 3 tall buildings were it on the skyline front. (The crease in the photo is where the postcard folder folding in)

2. Uptown Charlotte showing the pyramid topped Charlotte Civic Center whose patio had the first Alive After 5 and from left to right: white 400 South Tryon Bldg (old Wachovia Center and that was the old Winston based Wachovia) then 2 Wells Fargo then called Jefferson First Union (after the insurance company and bank) then the ACC building which is now South Tryon Square but then home of America Commercial Credit, across from it NCNB Building now 200 South Tryon before they moved into new NCNB Plaza(B of A Plaza)  Newly finished Southern National Center what we call now the BB&T Center home of Southern National Bank and Southern Bell then. Notice the Omni (then Radisson hotel) not built yet. Biggest changes north of Trade. Look at the block where 60 story Bank of America bldg and Blumenthal is now. That was home to the rambling and I mean rambling Belks store and their headquarters. Both my grandmother and aunt worked there. (Talk about retail downtown we had it then for sure) Across Tryon you see the Iveys building on the corner now the condos then the department store. The Independence Bldg right at the corner of Trade and Tryon was the oldest high rise in town when it was knocked down for the Independence Center and Marriott. (And this was very controversial at the time)  Notice in the right lower corner of the photo the old 5 story warehouse. I remember parking there in front of it waiting on my aunt. That is now where the Wake Forest Center is and that building was deemed worthless and out of date. Boy that would have made for great loft condos or offices now.
