Say what you will of the government district from an urban street standpoint, but we have some very handsome government buildings architecturally.

Based on the focal point of some of those images, I wonder if a renovation of the Community 1 bank building (formerly granite bank) is being planned. Even just replacing the glass would make that a much more attractive building.

BB&T Ballpark fits so perfectly into Uptown.  You would think the park has been there for decades based on the density looking across from third base.  Love it.

Looking for something else I found these old photos of uptown Charlotte I took in 1982! I have been taking bad pictures since the 80s but I loved taking photos of tall buildings even back then.1. this was from Marshall Park 2nd St area near the old Education center. Notice Charlotte Plaza is not complete.  2. Tryon Street looking south from the Iveys Belk overstreet mall connection. Iveys is still there of course but no Belks. This was before they put Tryon Street on a diet then called a Transit Mall. 3. Family driving down I-277 Brookshire and me rolling down the window for a shot! 4. The crazy concrete pedestrian bridge at Marshall Park torn down long ago and the skyline and yep that was those 4 tall buildings. Ignore my cousin LOL

Took this photo today from 277 around the same area as my photo above and yes the grain silos were there in 80s I just was a little further down 277.

Yes that is where I was approximately. It is unbelievable how the city is growing. I like then and now photos!

In person, the view of these two art deco buildings from First Ward truly are a sight to behold. That close-up of a perspective really let's you take in the architectural details. Quite the pair those two: The Queen and her Queen!

Skyline from SouthPark earlier this evening. The skyline is really expanding and it will be nice to see the  BOAT Bank of America Tower next to Duke Energy Center on the far left side. (hey if LincolnHarris wont name that tower I will)

There will be a couple of towers filling in between Bank of America Stadium and Duke.
