Speaking of Elvis, I once attended an HOA meeting for a friend of mine in Vegas and yes there was an Elvis in the audience.  (and this also taught me HOAs are the same all over the country...crazy)

This video was posted almost exactly 2 years ago. It shows both Uptown and Dilworth with some South End sprinkled in. The main purpose in me sharing this is for us all to look back and how much Stonewall has transformed in the last 2 years. In this video, the Observer site wasn't even demolished yet, and the first floor of 310 S. College was being erected. Interesting vid with great angles.

Another neat video comparing 1986 to 2013 (even though 2013 is basically 1986 in internet years)

 Found this on youTube...blew me away seeing uptown in '69.   Love all of the big wide station wagons (pre-SUV era)   Also, fair warning,  city shots stop at 1:03.  From there it's anybody's guess as to what road they were on.  Might have been 85 before widening but can't tell.   Enjoy

^^^ Yes that was I-85 in west Mecklenburg saw the sign for Mulberry Rd which is now Billy Graham Parkway it is amazing there was no guardrails between the 2 directions of I-85.

I forgot that old Professional building 8 stories at N Tryon and 7th was taken down to build the 400 N Tryon building.  Look how much had changed in the mid 1970s when I took this photo on the overstreet walkway bridge over Tryon from Belks to Iveys department stores.

^simply amazing!!   Did that stand alone billboard on the corner say WBT in giant letters?   I recall seeing that as a kid in the car with my parents.

Yes it did!   My aunt worked at Belks uptown so I was always riding along with my uncle to pick her up back in the day when I spent my summer vacations like a month right here in Charlotte.

The old Professional Building (redundancy) was the last building I know of in downtown  Charlotte that had an elevator run by an operator who closed the cage then moved the controller like a ship speed dial to take you to your floor. 

Later it became an artists collective with galleries and showrooms in most of the building. The sign outside was artistic and said

Never seen that. Incredible. Definitely heading west on 85, into Gaston County after the city scenes. Kind of looks like whoever shot the video continued heading west into the Foothills in Cleveland or Rutherford County afterwards.

Pretty sure it's just the reflection of lights behind him from the room he's in.
